1. The WWII jeep thermostat is a very simple item to install and/or replace. But this little guy can be a sneaky problem when your vehicle is not running well. Here are the parts involved with the thermostat.

2. When you order a new thermostat you will most likely be given a 180 degree thermostat. If you live where there is a lot of heat most the year, you may want to go with the 160 degree thermostat

3. First, you want to drain your coolant from your radiator and your block

4. Next, disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing

5. remove the thermostat housing and remove existing thermostat if there. Prepare to insert new thermostat by placing the thermostat in the thermostat retainer.

6. Place the thermostat retainer and thermostat into the housing.

7. Clean the surface on the head from any existing gasket residue. Apply some gasket sealer on both sides of the new gasket an line up the housing on the block. Install the three bolts to hold the housing in place. Reattach the radiator hose to thermostat housing.
